Volcano House is a multi functional establshment in Reykjavík´s city centre that focuses on Icelandic geology and volcanology.
Volcano House is a multi-functional establishment in Reykjavík's city centre, with a special focus on Icelandic geology and volcanology. At the heart of our operations is the Volcano House cinema, which screens two fascinating documentaries on recent eruptions in Iceland throughout the day. There is also the Volcano House café, a rock exhibition, free Wi-Fi, a gift shop, tourist information, and a booking service.
We told you we were multi-functional!
Two documentaries shown in our cinema, one from the eruption in the Westman Islands (S-Iceland), where a tremendous eruption began on the night of 23 January 1973. Nearly 5,000 people were evacuated to the mainland iin matter of hours. The other film shows the volcanic side of Iceland and documents the eruption in Eyjafjallajökull. That eruption caused a huge disruption in air traffic air in Europe.
We provide a professional guidance for our mineral exhibition, where many beautiful and rare stones from Iceland are displayed.
