Specualuzing in New England Seafood
There's a new restaurant in Olde Naples. It's located at the Naples Boat Club, overlooking the Bay, and is appropriately called the Wharf Tavern Restaurant and Lobster House. If you're in the mood for something different than the typical florida style restaurant, this might just be the spot for you. Authentic New England seafood is the specialty, but there are options for those who desire food from the land. There is no shortage of waterfront ambience, outside seating is available on the dock and inside the atmosphere is casual.
The Wharf is owner and operated by Henry and Deidre Diodati, who both grew up in New England. Henry is a native Rhode Islander. As a boy he saw his uncles make a living from the sea as commercial fishermen; back in the day when Swordfish were abundant and the kitchen sink was always filled with whatever catch was available. He learned to dig clams and scallops and fish with his family, and soon after was providing to his friends and neighbors. His passion for local seafood and the hospitality industry influenced him to begin working in the restaurant business as a teenager. He started as a busboy and gradually worked his way up, learning every aspect of the business until eventually he opened his first restaurant in 1986. Deidre grew up in Massachusetts' South Shore and on Martha's Vineyard Island. Living near the shore, loving local seafood, and having a passion for hospitality brought her to the business in the late eighties. Together they have owned four successful restaurants and currently run a Bed & Breakfast (www.capricornhouse.com) on the resort island of Martha's Vineyard. As a result they have mastered the authentic New England style seafood restaurant and now they have brought it here to Southwest Florida.
So come, and sit by the water and taste the abundance of the sea.
