About LSBB
Family home

Little Saigon Big Bangkok is a Thai and Vietnamese restaurant located in Guadalupe, Cebu.

We are a family owned and operated establishment and most of us live on the premises as well.

The building itself is the ancestral home of our landlord’s family. For most locals here in town, they are familiar with it as the former Couples for Christ center.
Dining at LSBB

Currently we have seating for 30 guests and seating is al fresco, in a street-side garden. We have recently added the same number of seats inside, but our preference is to have you dine outside.

The ambiance is influenced by street-food dining, as it done in Thailand and Vietnam. Visibly fresh, exciting, delicious.

The small , focused menu is prepped in the interior kitchen during the day and it is prepared freshly for dinner guests in our outdoor kitchen.

Herbs and vegetables grown on premises make up a large portion of the daily menu as do local and fresh ingredients selected that same day.

Service is casual and competent.

Cash is the only form of payment we currently accept.

Reservations are taken and strongly recommended.

Takeout is available.

We can handle large parties, babies and playing kids, small dogs, and corporate functions alike.

Guests are family members, at least until they try to change the music.
LSBB Origins

The idea for LSBB was fueled by travels to, and time spent in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia , Indonesia, Singapore and India…all countries that have a vibrant and delicious street food scene. Watching the food being prepared was just as fun and rewarding as eating it. Coming back home, the question we kept asking ourselves was, “Why don’t we have anything like that here?”

Little Saigon Big Bangkok is our answer to that question and it has been set up to provide a similar kind of experience. When we were looking for locations, we crossed off any place that was not exposed to the street. Malls of every kind were out of the question as we felt they lacked the proper atmosphere.

We felt it critical that LSBB had the food as well as the outdoor street vibe. We eventually settled on an idea for a restaurant co-located with a home, but we could not find anything for several months. A breakthrough finally came, and in a very unexpected way.

We had driven past the house probably a thousand times and had never noticed it, set back and sandwiched between high walls on either side. It was clearly going to require plenty of work to become LSBB, but we knew it had just about everything we needed—including a huge front yard for the restaurant and a garden in the back for growing what we needed.

We had been to memorable place in Hanoi that had built a tarpaulin above an outdoor garden and then placed most of the cooking stations around the dining area…and that was the simple inspiration for our design.

With only that basic vision in mind, we moved in almost immediately, unpacked boxes and all. 6 weeks later, Little Saigon Big Bangkok was ready for business.

The myth of the self made woman/man

To say that families and friends pitched in to build LSBB would be a gross under-statement.

It’s more accurate to say that it would not have been possible without them.

Nearly everything created was a do-it-yourself project and everyone helped out immensely and continues to do so. Both the front and back of the house staff are filled with family members. Even lolo, wherever he may be now, must be smiling as the huge mortar and pestle he carved from a tree is being used @ LSBB (as are his Tugas dining tables). From our landlords, we received lots of support and the trust that we would take care of their ancestral home. From across the ocean came daily words of encouragement and a few hard to find items, and from a local star chef a simple piece of advice ( “guys, just have fun with it!”).

Now let’s eat!
