The State of Alabama Personnel Department is committed to build and administer valid, legally-defensible selection devices in a timely manner and to identify the best qualified, available applicants to fill job vacancies; to maintain a competitive classification and pay plan as well as a pay administration system which supports the attraction and retention of qualified State workers; to facilitate the filling of State job vacancies through the efficient certification of qualified applicant names as required by the Merit System Law; to ensure compliance with court orders and Federal and State laws in the hiring process; to maintain the integrity of the State payroll by auditing proposed personnel actions to ensure compliance with State and Federal law; and to identify and create training programs in the area of human resource management.
